JOHN"JITTERS" DiMATTIA
I met John DiMattia in the mid nineteen nineties one day in a cigar lounge.  John thought he was going to be
able to run a game on me.  John showed me into a private cigar booth where a white haired man was seated. John
says, this is Rocky Zangari he is the same as Jimmy Caci.  John was trying to tell me that Rocky was a Capo in the LA
Family.  I knew who Rocky was because I had been in places where he hung out.  John was playing the tough guy but
that was an act. The act might have worked on a square but not me. So I just pulled John's ticket by looking at him
and saying so what.  I would come across John a number of times after that and every time he would try to be a man
but he would hide behind a made guy like Louie Gelfuso a Capo in the LA Family.  This was even more laughable
because Peter "Shakes" Milano had wanted John dead in the late eighties for being a rat.  The indictment of the
whole family including John had actually saved his life.

John DiMattia was born and raised in New Jersey where he first became involved in the Rackets as a runner for
the Legendary Lucchese Capo Tumac Acceturro. Although Tumac was a Capo he was actually Boss of the New
Jersey faction of Lucchese Family so he had tremendous power.  John decided to spread his wings and head for the
bright lights of Hollywood California.  John might have had a great life if he could have become an actor.  John had a
weakness for booze, broads and gambling.  John soon made the aquatance of Los Angeles Capo Mike Rizzi and
Tony "The Animal" Fiato.  John being the sneaky opportunist that he is, wasted no time in enlisting The Animal in
schemes to make cash that he was not able to do alone. John always loved to act the tough guy, speaking about
clipping this rat or smashing this guy but in truth he was unable to follow through with any action.

John was able to run his game in Los Angeles until his man Idol Tumac came into town for a visit.  Tumac, John,
Mike Rizzi and The Animal had a get acquainted meeting at the Sportsman's lodge in the San Fernando Valley.
I am sure John was very eager to show these to Los Angeles gangsters how well connected he was to Tumac.
They all sat down for drinks with John talking tough, keeping the gangsters in laughs because John is a funny guy.
John excused himself from the table to use the restroom leaving the gangsters alone.  The first thing Rizzi's asks
Tumac is if John is a capable guy.  Tumac's stone face broke into a huge smile and then he burst out laughing, he
then said. John is a knock around guy but he is not like us.  He is like an actor, the kid once ran for Mayor!
The three gangsters had a good laugh.  Life on the streets of Los Angeles were never the same for John after
Tumac's visit.
