The pistol was cold, yet it burned in his hand. The words that were coming out of the New
England Capo's mouth were like something out of a dream. The man was asking Anthony to do a
piece of work.  There was no dishonor in turning down the assignment, it would just mean that he
could never be a man of honor.  There were guys, leg breakers around the neighborhood who
were not capable of doing work. They were good at beating up slow payers or intimidating some
guy who got out of line.  The choice for Anthony was clear, he would just do what he had to do.
There were guys who liked killing or torture, they were sick. Then there were wiseguy's who just saw
doing work as one of those things you did in the life.  This was the second time a wiseguy had
asked Anthony to do some work.  The first was the legendary Joey Gallo, who was in California to
recruit Mike Rizzi for his war.  Joey said to Anthony, we have to kill tonight.  Then he looked at
Anthony who never missed a beat.  Anthony looked at him and said, sure give me the guys
address.  Joey Gallo was impressed by the young Anthony's response, grown men would make
excuses to get out of doing work.
The apprehension that Anthony felt as he stuck the pistol in his  waistband was quickly replaced by
excitement as he saw in his mind the outcome. The way he would be looked at would change as
would the way he would be spoken to by the older men. Anthony smiled as he walked away.
The Mafia that Anthony was entering was in a state of change, the men who schooled Anthony
were older.  The generation coming up were part of the me generation and they would destroy a
hundred year old organization in a few years.  There is no doubt that Anthony would have been a
boss in the North End had he not left for California. The reason he left was his loyalty to a
childhood friend who made a promise to the Angiulo brothers that he could not keep. Ronnie Rome
was given the same choice as Anthony and he accepted the assignment.  The problem with Ronnie
was that while he was a tough man, he could not kill.  Ronnie had even asked his friend Anthony to
do the work for him.  Anthony did not want to have anything to do with the contract, it was not his
and he would gain nothing.  So with Ronnie Rome in trouble, they left for Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles that Anthony returned to was not the same Los Angeles that he left. There
were a few of familiar faces around town.  The Sica brothers still held court at the Formosa Café
and Jack Dragna's soldiers still frequented the Sunset strip.  Anthony soon found work collecting
money from wayward debtors.  Anthony would smash heads in the pool halls of Watts and other
black neighborhoods. Dago Louie and the Sica brothers bankrolled extensive gambling and drug
operations in the black communities.  The men that controlled the action were a few left over Jewish
gangsters, but they belonged to the Italians.  Anthony cracked enough skulls to come to the
attention of his old friend Mike Rizzi.  One night while Anthony was running the Villa Capri, Mike
came calling. Mike was impressed by what he had been hearing on the street, he was even more
impressed by the Anthony's physical strength.  Mike and Anthony spoke about old times, then Mike
turned serious and he told Anthony that he had a problem that he had to fix.  Mike was aware of
Ronnie Rome's problem in Boston and he told Anthony that if he wanted to do anything with Mike
he would have to straighten it out.  So Anthony, who was never one to dodge a problem, hopped on
the first plane to Boston.  The minute he was in Boston, the Angiulo brothers knew he was in town.
Anthony had no idea that Mike Rizzi had placed a call to his good friend Frankie Skyball, a powerful
Genovese Capo located in Springfield Massachusetts.  Frankie Skyball called the Angiulo's and let
them know that Anthony was a well liked friend.
Anthony was directed to meet after hours in a club at the North End, the stronghold of the Angiulo's.
Anthony just walked into the meeting, he accepted his fate, he knew that men walked inside and
were carried out.  The Brothers Angiulo questioned Anthony about his friend Ronnie Rome, they
really admired his loyalty and his fearlessness for coming into the meeting for a friend.  They gave
Ronnie a pass and then they expressed admiration that he was a friend of Frankie Skyball.
Once back in LA, Anthony hit the streets on a mission. He did not care who the person was or
what he did, Anthony finished what he started.  Then Mike asked him to accompany some of his
crew on a shakedown mission against some independent pornographer's.  Anthony was upset by
the men who accompanied him. Once inside the porn office, Anthony could only take so much
double talk so he slammed what would turn out to be an FBI Agent against the wall.
The message from the LA Family to the Porn Guys was clear pay or be hurt.  Mike Rizzi let his ego
get in the way and in the process he saved Anthony some jail time.  The Porn guys were really an
FBI sting that would become a case called FOREX and it would take down most of the LA Family.
Anthony spent the next two years working on his tan in Hawaii.
Anthony was back and this time he was taking everything he could in LA.
He began by relieving a Bookie of sixty thousand dollars. Anthony made his home base Beverly
Hills, where he knew the money was located. Then he began a massive Shylock business along
with a man known as Puggy.  Puggy Zeichick was a Jewish criminal who was good at making money,
the only problem was he had no underworld muscle.  That all changed when he teamed up with
Anthony, they had over a million dollars of Shylock cash on the street at any given time.  The crew
that Anthony had assembled in LA was larger than the whole LA Family.  The crew began to
swallow up bookmakers all over the city under the direction of Anthony. Peggy was able to bring an
infusion of cash into the crew from other Jewish businessmen, so they were soon taking hug action.
The major problem that any mobster form back East encounters is that there are no true
neighborhoods and everyone runs to the police.  The combined power of law enforcement soon
came down on Anthony and his brother.  The writing was on the wall, they faced a combined four
hundred years in prison.  They turned and began to wear a wire to meetings with the LA Family.
The Boss Shakes Milano soon sent his trust gofer Capo Louie Gelfuso to see Anthony.  Mike Rizzi
was in prison doing a short term, so Shakes made his move.  Louie told Anthony that he could be
part of the LA Family with Shakes if he wanted to be.  Anthony did not want to be made into a family
that was weaker than his crew, but he was on the good guys team now.  So Anthony agreed to
Shakes offer and Louie asked him some questions. Louie told him he had to be on the street in LA
for ten years, that his father had to be Italian and he had to be proposed by two family members.
Louie was one and he was able to get a hold of Jack LoCicero, the Consigliere.  They met Jack a t
a restaurant where Louie went over all the usual rules and then Jack looked at Anthony and said in
broken English...You wanna this?  Anthony said yes. Jack then says he wants in he's ah in.
Jack told Louie not to worry about the Palm Springs guy like Jimmy Caci who hated Anthony
because he told Jimmy to fuck his mother.  Jimmy was on the shelf because he was serving another
prison term, which he did often.  A few days later Anthony met Shakes in his favorite coffee shop
and Shakes told him he was Cosa Nostra. There was be no ceremony because there was to much
heat for Shakes.  That little exchange and the eighty guys he put away helped make Anthony on of
the most effective cooperators in FBI history.  Then years later he would shoot to fame during the
OJ Simpson trial when he testified behind closed doors.  To top off a crazy life he then dated
Denise Brown during the trial.
